ADRIANA G. — PORTFOLIO

Hi, I'm Adriana! I take an interest in drawing, singing and dancing. I am a theater major. Personally, what draws me to what I do is the freedom of creativity that one can have under these forms of art. Its also very therapeutic, and a good mental escape. I love sharpening my craft and getting continuously better at what I do.

I live by the quotes,

"I know who I am inside and outside, and I know what I want to do. And I will always go with my dreams."

"If you have a dream, don't let anybody take it away. And believe that the impossible is always possible."

I like to do research to deeper examine a specific theme or design I'm working on. On the Enchanted Forest project, I made sure to search up inspiration or reference photos to stay true to the theme whilst also incorporating a cool design.

Costume Project

Build a wearable garment and document the whole process, start to finish, in one presentation. The garment is direct evidence of every skill in this unit: cutting, machine operation, and construction order. The presentation is where you show the design thinking behind it.

How a design comes together

  1. Character research

I learned about the different fabrics they used around that time period. As well as the different designs that was popularized around the period. Or even little things like colors that were used in designs specifically (Royalty: Purple and or Red)

  2. Renderings

I believe this shows character and silhouette as it incorporated elements I used in my references and portrayed the theme.

  3. Fabric and construction

Some techniques I used were watching YouTube videos to help me and asking my peers for help while designing. As well as checking if its accurate to portraying the time-period

  4. Fittings and performance

I made readjustments for it to properly fit my body, and used the seam threader to help with this. And unless I'm doing a concept design (Sketch) I always go back to check my inspiration and reference photos.

A NOTABLE LESSON I LEARNED WAS HAVING PATIENCE, AND ALSO WORKING AT A PACE THAT WORKED FOR ME, IN ORDER TO HAVE GOOD QUALITY IN MY DESIGN
